Chicago-based Harbor Funds is to launch a small cap value fund, which will be subadvised by Sapience Investments, according to a Securities and Exchange Commission filing.
The Harbor Small Cap Value Opportunities fund, which is slated to launch on August 1, will be managed by Samir Sikka, chief investment officer and chief executive at Sapience.
Prior to founding Newport Beach, California-based Sapience in 2016, Sikka served as a managing director and lead portfolio manager for the Pelican value equity team at Wells Capital Management.
At Wells since 2006, Sikka directed small and mid cap value strategies representing approximately $2.5 billion in assets.
Under normal market conditions, the fund expects to invest in approximately 60 to 70 companies and may invest up to 10% of its total assets in foreign stocks.
It will charge a 0.75% management fee across all four available share classes.
