Johnson and Rem both joined Nuveen in 2011, working as research analysts in the small cap value team. Bowie, who has run the fund since 2006, will remain as lead manager.
Separately, Anthony Burger, manager of the $56.8 million Nuveen Large Cap Select fund and the $92.7 million Nuveen Equity Long/Short fund, has stepped down from portfolio management to focus on leading Nuveen's quantitative equity team.
The fund changes come as Vijay Advani prepares to take charge of Nuveen next week, with the chief operating officer taking over from Rob Leary, who is leaving to lead Saudi investment conglomerate Olayan Group.
Advani joined Nuveen in January from Franklin Templeton, where, as co-president, he was responsible for long-term strategic initiatives, investment management, trading and global retail, and institutional distribution.
