Turnkey asset management program Envestnet has unveiled its top separate account managers (SMAs) at its annual conference in Grapevine, Texas.
To qualify for the awards, a manger’s team must have at least three years’ experience running a strategy with at least $200 million in assets.
All the strategies must also be on Envestnet’s premium research list, which is overseen by chief investment strategist Tim Clift.
The firm named one overall SMA manager of the year, which was Congress Asset Management, as well as a series of category winners.
Congress is a Boston-based boutique which manages $8.7 billion in assets, which specializes in high conviction, concentrated portfolios with a tilt towards growth.
It offers seven equity strategies, four fixed income offerings, two asset allocation strategies, as well as private equity and balance portfolios.
In the US equity large cap category ClearBridge Large Cap Growth and SKBA Value Plus took the prizes.
Congress Asset Management was named top manager in the US equity small or mid cap growth category for the Congress Mid Cap Growth strategy alongside the Kayne Anderson Rudnick Small Cap Sustainable Growth strategy.
The best international/global equity manager was Lazard Asset Management due to the Lazard Emerging Markets Equity strategy and on the fixed income side, Pacific Income Advisors beat the competition with its Limited Duration MACS strategy.
The best impact manager was Trillium Asset Management with the Trillium Small/Mid Cap Core strategy.
The strategist category was won by Clark Capital Management for its Navigator Strategist Solutions and the speciality sector crown went to Cushing Asset Management for the Cushing MLP Alpha Total Return strategy.
